I have never “written” anything in first person form!

So, a few weeks ago, I joined a writers group. Talking with a friend about her writing, and me suggesting some titles and novel ideas for her, she instead challenged me to pick up my own writing again.

This group focuses on writing together, and submitting written pieces for commenting.

Last Wednesday, they looked at the first part of a (for now?) short story I had been working on a few years ago, and I was given a challenge: to write something in first person.

It then dawned on me then that I had never written anything in first person.

And how could I? There never was a first person inside of me; a self. I saw everything happen in front of my eyes as the silent observer.

I think that for the same reason, they commented on the fact that many of my sentences are in a passive form.
